Celebrating Experiences

A bouquet of beautiful sunsets!

I have a very simple prescription for an idyllic life; fill your life with some spectacular sunrises and serene sunsets. I have been following this for long. Sunsets never cease to amaze me. A resplendent sunset can put a sparkling end, even to a dull and chaotic day, and promise a new dawn. Nights no matter how long and dark, slowly melt away with the rising sun, and we all live anew. I feel that the past is accumulating more and future is receding fast. Let me look back to the bouquet of beautiful sunsets that are etched in my heart forever.

A golden sunset on Juhu beach, Mumbai, India

The setting sun, which I witnessed on Juhu beach in Mumbai, India was like an artist who emerges triumphant despite the dark clouds or the obstacles that life offers.

Sunset on lake Geneva, Switzerland

On an evening, while walking by Lake Geneva in Switzerland, I came across the fiery lava of a heavenly volcano, such was the sunset. The quote below is by Crystal Woods that describes the scene perfectly.

Sunset in a village in MadhyaPradesh, India

Let me tell you the tale of a radiant evening. We were inside a car and the car was running on small village roads in Madhya Pradesh, India. I was soaked in music playing inside our car and then suddenly when I looked outside I was awestruck by the magical spell of the sun rays. I instantly urged to stop our car. Ahhh, I can never forget that evening. Twilight fell,  and the crimson sun just dropped somewhere in the horizon and a pleasant cool breeze started to blow. I was standing amidst all green in a remote village in India. No amount of money can replace experiences such as this. I am and will remain indebted to travel forever.

Sunset in Hawaii, USA

Sunset in Hawaii, USA

No this is not me in the picture, but someone else. I was enchanted by her free spirit in Waikiki beach, Hawaii. She confirmed my believe that the setting sun ignites creativity. The shining sea, the setting sun, the terracota sky and a heart felt dance was no less than a sonata; perhaps an evening sonata! What a beautiful way to embrace those last rays of the brightest star.

Sunset in Santa Monica beach, Los Angeles, USA

While seeing the juxtaposition of the setting sun and the child playing on the shores of the pacific ocean on Santa Monica beach in Los Angeles, I felt that sunset is a promise that plethora of possibilities are awaiting the next day. Nature teaches us every day in various ways. We just have to see it, feel it and realize it!

Sunset in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India

Sailing through river Narmada while seeing the marble rocks alongside and the dazzling sunset in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India

At least once in a lifetime, if the situation permits, one must experience this surreal spectacle of nature in Jabalpur, a city in Madhya Pradesh, India which is famous for its marble rocks. We were in an open boat with many people, sailing over river Narmada. When our boat was passing through the marble rocks slightly before the sunset, white marble rocks were reflecting the orange and reddish rays of the setting sun, I could hear the soothing sound of the oar slicing the water, birds were going back to their nests and a calmness flew by with the wind.  I remained stunned and clicked the camera to envelop some of the moments though it was a futile try. The place is far more beautiful than this photograph could portray. The scene was a mystical, magical miracle. This paragraph is not merely filled with words but with breathings of my heart!

The sunset of the silicon valley, San Francisco

Imagine someone, tired and exhausted with the computer screen, sitting inside a glass cabin in a San Francisco office, seeing outside through the window exactly at the moment when the day is retiring and catches a glimpse of this color palette in the sky! What do you think would happen? It might just light up the candle of dreams he has once more and at the same time would inspire some rest.

The setting sun in Phuket, Thailand

I was sitting on a beach in Phuket, Thailand and was lost in the rhythmic percussion of waves on sand. As my eyes drifted to the horizon, I could not believe my eyes; the sky seemed a canvas and those hues of orange, red, yellow seemed strokes from a painter’s brush. How I wished to be on that parachute and witness the majesty of this sunset.

No matter how hard we try, the ship of our life will meet the setting sun and eventually a silvery moon and then an eternal light. So in the meantime, let’s enjoy our journey; let’s enjoy this terracotta sky while the sun is setting. Let’s remember the promise of a setting sun is a new dawn; let’s celebrate life which comes with a complete package of mirth, melancholy, meetings, memories and then a sweet Sayonara.

Sunset in Phuket, Thailand

Very much like life itself, a sunset is a sequence of changing moments – I realized while sitting on a beach in Phuket. I felt a certain realm of calmness; I slowly whispered to myself,

What in me is dark,

Illumine

That’s my motto before I reach the sunset of my life. One day, when I will be an old lady, I will say that my age is an asset and my experiences are my riches.

I love all those certain moments of sudden appreciation when a particular manifestation of light, a transitory glory, appears—a rainbow, a sunset, the dappled light in a forest, stained glass in a church, and the flicker of a candle, flooding a room with romance. Among all these, a setting sun on the horizon induces a sensory overload. I love them.

These were all so gorgeous! I totally agree, at the end of the day, no matter your stresses in life, there’s something calming and promising about a sunset. My favorite of your pictures above is from MadhyaPradesh, India!
