Monterey Bay Aquarium – A window to another world!

The best way to explore and experience the wonders of the oceans is an underwater dive. If you can’t, then the best alternative is visiting an aquarium. I wish someday I too will dive because the world inside the ocean is mysterious and unique. I got a glimpse of that world when a submarine took me down 106 ft below the surface of the sea in Hawaii. The charm was so enthralling that I keep going to aquariums. Recently I visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium and loved watching another world in slow motion through glasses.

My happy and hearty moments at Hofsas House in Carmel, California!

As soon as I entered my room in Hofsas House, I stepped out into the balcony even before switching the lights on. A beautiful night, solemn silence and thousands of sparkling stars above greeted me. It was a string of joyful moments that filled life with aliveness; without rush and without engines. I loved how my weekend trip to the beautiful small city of Carmel on the Pacific coast of California had begun.

I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.                                                      ~ Vincent van Gogh

My moments with General Sherman – The largest tree on earth!

My moments with General Sherman, the largest tree on earth is invaluable. I sat on one of the benches that surround this giant sequoia tree in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in California and looked at it for some time.  Strong, enduring and imperturbable, I whispered to myself while looking at it. Slowly my eyes followed the trunk of General Sherman upwards and ended up seeing a beautiful blue sky.

Me to General Sherman –

I am not as lucky as you. I don’t get to live under the open sky and under the sparkling stars at night.                  ~ Chirasree Banerjee

JD House – A beautiful boutique hotel in blooming Mendocino!

It all started with a call. A simple and short phone call.                                                      The story goes like this;

I quickly dialed the number to convey and confirm that we will reach JD house very late at night the next day. I got a warm reply from the other side – “Thank you for letting us know. You will get the keys as instructed in the email. But please be careful while driving at night”. I loved the care in her voice. I said, “I will, thank you”. The next day, we reached JD House at midnight. I called a number given to me. I again heard the same caring voice. She instructed me in detail and we went in.

Death Valley National Park – A water-less wonder!

After seeing the Death Valley National Park, I named it a water-less wonder. The vast golden landscape is interesting not only to a geologist but has an appeal to a photographer, and an artist. A good photographer can perhaps capture the beautiful and brutal, dry and dangerous, hot and harsh landscape along with small remnants of life. An artist can reveal the presence of a strange silence in Death Valley like no one else. You and I are mere spectators of this vast wonder named  Death Valley.

Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America!

I believe a large water body, be it a river, sea or lake, has a profound effect on men and women living near it. I lived near the beautiful Lake Geneva for six years. That lake has become a part of me. Perhaps in my subconscious mind, I long for the silence that I used to enjoy while walking along the shores of the Lake Geneva.  When I saw Lake Tahoe, I was overwhelmed with joy. After almost 2 years, I saw a lake similar to Lake Geneva where I spent countless hours thinking and reflecting on life and death.  Among many romantic gateways in California, the beautiful Lake Tahoe, which is the largest alpine lake in North America, will take the first place.

Glimpses of romantic California!

California, the name instantly makes us think about Google, Facebook, Apple and thousands of companies all working day and night with software. Products and ideas from Silicon Valley have changed the way we live today, how we talk to one another and also what we say (emojis for instance).
