I love writing about the less known places that I had the opportunity to visit and often hesitate writing about well-known places since so much has been said and written about them. One such well-known and much talked about place is the London Eye in London. The attraction is one of the world’s tallest observation wheels and has been London’s number one visitor experience for over a decade. Book your tickets in advance and enjoy fast-track admission and avoid waiting in line!
London Eye through my eyes!

London Eye
From pages of history
Being an Indian, London is something different. The pages of history are bound to flash in front of our eyes! Our conscious mind has a thin thread which always links our vision with knowledge that we relate to! It ought to vary from person to person.

The London Eye is a giant observation wheel
The London Eye, hitherto, the tallest in Europe, in simple terms is a giant observation wheel, hanging over the south bank of the River Thames, offers a panoramic view of the city.

Oval-shaped capsules
Before embarking into the oval-shaped capsules, we stood in a queue for a few minutes. Inside the gondola, there is a seating arrangement in the middle and all four sides have interactive digital displays specifying all the important viewpoints.
Amazing views of the scintillating London from the London Eye
It moves very slowly and thus we got ample scope to capture the amazing views of the scintillating London from the top! Well-known old buildings juxtaposed with new and modern buildings are impressive. Bridges across the river Thames enhance the beauty of the cityscape. London is brimming with places for us to discover slowly while walking. I’ve always loved walking in European cities, taking in the sights and sounds at my own pace.

We met an enthusiastic German family inside the gondola who clicked some very nice photographs for us.

London, the charming city, started spreading its charm as we moved upwards. The river Thames, the Big Ben, the Palace of Westminister, Westminister Abbey, etc and the wonderful scenes all around reminded me that this is the city which gifted us the romantic poet John Keats, the passionate poet John Milton and so many others. It also reminded me that perhaps it is one of these buildings which bears testimony to British rule in India for 200 years. I remember, my mind became an invisible thoroughfare of varied emotions.

Our journey inside the Ferris wheel came to an end
Our journey inside the romantic Ferris wheel came to an end, retaining the vivid memory of this lovely ride forever in our minds. In the end, I must mention that I really like the name “London Eye” which is apt, interesting, poetic and easy to remember!

You took amazing pictures of the view and the London eye itself. I had no idea it has those capsules for the passengers (I was in London when they started constructing it so I had no chance to see it).
The pictures of the two of you are so sweet. And I love the poem. I definitely want to ride it the next time I get to London! 🙂

Optimistic Existentialist
Well I confess I have a bit of a fear of heights so I am not sure that the London Eye is for me – but the views look awesome 🙂

Hi Keith,
If the height makes you feel sick, it is not too noticeable. You may give it a try!
