It was a gorgeous, sunlit Sunday afternoon when we stepped into the historic Henry J. Kaiser Center in Oakland, California, to explore an immersive exhibition that’s been catching everyone’s attention—Bubble Planet.

Inside Bubble Planet : A Room-by-Room Journey Through Color and Imagination
The Entrance : A Portal of Light and Color
From the very first step, Bubble Planet sets the tone with a dramatic, glowing corridor that feels like walking through a portal into another dimension.
The archways—bathed in gradients of red, purple, and blue—create a tunnel of color that immediately heightens your senses.
As I walked through this vivid entrance, it felt as if reality softened behind me. The colors weren’t just painted—they pulsed, reflected, and wrapped around us, like a warm invitation into a world where imagination rules.
My children raced ahead in awe, while I paused to take in the layered symmetry and mood lighting—it was theatrical, modern, and just the right amount of surreal.
It was here that I realized: this wasn’t just going to be a fun family outing—it was going to be a sensory story, told in light and color.
LED Room : A Walk Beneath the Sea
As we stepped through the glowing arches, we found ourselves submerged in a dreamlike seascape—the LED Room.
The floor beneath us shimmered with animated coral, jellyfish, and bioluminescent creatures, giving the sensation of walking along the ocean floor without ever getting wet.
Mirrored walls multiplied the visuals endlessly, creating a kaleidoscopic underwater illusion that made it hard to tell where the room ended and the fantasy began.

Next came the most physically fun space: Bubble Ocean. Picture hundreds of pastel balloons packed into a vast room, crowned by a glowing flower-shaped structure.
My son squealed with delight as he disappeared into waves of pink and lavender orbs. I joined in too—because how often do you get to float in a sea of balloons under a neon lotus tree?
Giant Bubble: Immersed in a Dream
Stepping into the Giant Bubble felt like entering a liquid daydream.
With soft beanbags scattered on a shimmering floor, this room invited us to sit, relax, and soak in a kaleidoscope of distorted colors projected onto honeycomb-shaped walls.
A massive glowing bubble in the center pulsed with animated lights, creating the sensation of being inside a living, breathing orb.
It was the perfect pause—a moment to take in the wonder from a more reflective perspective.
Bubble Bath : Where Play Meets Surreal
Just when we thought the surprises might slow down, we walked into the Bubble Bath room—and were instantly swept into the most whimsical kind of chaos.
Imagine being shrunk down and dropped into a giant bathtub filled not with water, but with thousands of floating, glimmering white balls.
It was a moment of pure, playful surrealism. My son disappeared giggling beneath the waves of bubbles, only to pop up again in delight, while I found myself smiling at the absurd joy of it all.
Infinity Room: Reflections Without End
We stepped into a glowing corridor of lights—and then kept stepping. The Infinity Room played tricks on our senses with suspended orbs that multiplied endlessly in every mirrored direction.
Each shift in color—emerald green, cosmic red, ethereal blue—transformed the space into something new and otherworldly.
My daughter reached for a glowing sphere and whispered, “It feels like forever.” Surrounded by reflections that blurred the line between real and illusion, I had to agree.
It was immersive art at its most mind-bending.
Photo Booths: Playful, Posed, and Perfectly Lit
We wandered into a series of delightfully quirky photo booths. One was a bathtub overflowing with rubber duckies, another featured a swing suspended under a fluffy cloud against a dreamy ombré sky.
These setups weren’t just photo ops—they felt like playful extensions of the whole experience. Light-hearted, imaginative, and wonderfully weird, they offered a last burst of laughter and creativity before we stepped back into the real world.
My kids and I took turns striking silly poses, and each frame we captured felt like a little souvenir of joy.
Quotes That Made Us Pause
Scattered throughout the experience were illuminated quotes that caught our eyes—and our thoughts. One from H.G. Wells asked, “Are we all bubbles blown by a baby?”
Another, by Danielle LaPorte, read, “Happiness is like rising bubbles, delightful and inevitably fleeting. Joy is the oxygen—ever present.”
These reflections, nestled between the color and chaos, were gentle reminders to hold on to the wonder and live a little lighter.
