I fondly remember my visit to the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona. It is not only the largest stadium in Europe but also belongs to Football Club Barcelona or in short FC Barcelona, one of the best football (soccer) teams on the planet. Once you are here, you will feel that this stadium and the museum inside are a celebration of the very spirit of football. FC Barcelona is indeed more than a club.

Reaching Camp Nou Stadium
When in Europe, I always enjoy seeing the city with the Hop-On Hop-Off bus. During my visit to Barcelona, I boarded the Hop-On Hop-Off bus and after visiting a few sights, I reached Camp Nou and took the stadium and museum tour. I realized that although we enjoy seeing a football match on TV, the stadium is where the real magic happens.
Book a combo-tour that includes a ticket for the Hop-On Hop-Off Barcelona City Tour, and a ticket for FC Barcelona Camp Nou. I fully recommend this tour!
Football is like a festival
It was during the European Championships a year ago, I felt the enthusiasm of Europeans for football. I have seen while living in Switzerland, almost all households (on their balcony) display a flag of the country which they support. Sometimes I have seen more than one flag as well, hinting at split loyalties! During the football match, after each and every goal I heard the vuvuzelas blaring from the balconies. They also burst crackers after winning. Football is like a festival and they celebrate it. Naturally, when I landed at the airport to spend a few days in Barcelona, visiting the Camp Nou Stadium of FCB topped the priority list.

In the stadium premise, there is an excellent sculpture of Laszlo Kubala
– A Hungarian footballer and a leading member of the successful Barcelona team in the 1950s.

Museum inside FCB
Like the Real Madrid Club, FCB too has a grand museum. Large interactive screens to know about their 100-year legacy and trophies they have won are a significant part of the experience. A large area where one can see different well-played matches on gigantic screens is amazing. The museum is immersive and impressive.

Inside Football Club Barcelona
In the picture on the right, I am standing in front of a photograph of the Camp Nou Stadium of FCB – about which, I am going to write in my next post. I will write about the player’s tunnel, their dressing room and the press room along with snaps of these places. For those who are like me (not a football fanatic), would surely love to read about the stadium like I did during the tour.

No, I can't say that I'm a genuine sports fanatic of any kind. American football is the closest thing, but just to the extent that I rarely miss any of our Atlanta Falcons games on TV. Okay, so maybe I glue myself to the set while they're playing. And cheer a lot. Groan a lot, and it's entirely possible that I go nuts when they win. Okay, so maybe I am a bit of a fanatic…

I think no matter if you're a football fanatic or not, it's so much fun to visit these places. And take photographs. They are quite spectacular!
