Whenever mundane reality clogs my thoughts, invades the realm of the senses, shrinks me and shakes the tranquility of my mind, I gear up to travel to new places if time and situation permit or else I just open an unread book. Both of them comfortably take me afar from the present. And then, I find myself all charged up again like a phoenix. Books and travel, two of my favorite companions in life merge into one whenever I visit a library – the storehouse of thousands of years of knowledge.

It is time to say “Bye 2022” and embrace 2023 with new challenges, resolutions and dreams. I hope that we will reflect on the modern values of society- Liberty, Fraternity and Equality with care and love in this new year and years to come, irrespective of any culture, country or race. I always begin any journey with my books – the safest and the most secure pal. I live several lives while reading them.

One of the unique things of memory is, it comes back often. Sometimes it makes us happy, sometimes we become melancholic and often it inspires. My string of memories binds all the inspiring reminiscences with tender care and nurtures it passionately. It often surfaces amidst the labyrinths of my mind, enlivens me when I feel down, rendering me refreshed with utmost zeal to acquire knowledge, more and more.

Few more hours and 2017 will bid adieu to 2016. Time for new resolutions and new dreams. I believe one of the finest blessings of our existence is the ability to read and gain knowledge. To me books are my most precious companion, powerful solace and my true delight. I always exchange my vacant, intellectual and blank solitudes with books and only books (though nowadays with my kindle – thanks to the technology)!! Today I decided to take my readers to a paradise where the most precious treasure is knowledge. Come and explore with me the main library of Princeton University (also called the Firestone Library) – an abode of books.
