Butterfly House in Vienna is a unique tropical oasis, peaceful and relaxing, and a must-see sight if you are visiting this lovely city. Colorful butterflies inside one of the most beautiful Art Noveau palm houses in the world reminded me of “Colors”, one of the most beautiful, charismatic, and surprising elements of nature.

The butterfly house in Vienna
The Butterfly House is in the very center of Vienna. It is part of the Hofburg Royal Palace and is situated on the edge of the Burggarten palace gardens, just by the Albertina Art Museum and 200 meters from the Opera House.

The Schmetterlinghaus, The Imperial Butterfly House is housed within a stunning palm house, built during the Art Nouveau period at the beginning of the last century.
I was lucky to get an opportunity to visit “The Butterfly House” in Vienna, Austria recently. In one word the experience was delightful. When one watches a butterfly with vibrant colored wings, flying around, even an old man or a depressed heart inside a young man would change for a while. Although they were maintaining a tropical climate inside, (very hot and humid), one would not feel it while watching the playful butterflies.

A beautiful blue butterfly!
A butterfly is a flying flower
I got an opportunity to capture this beautiful black and blue butterfly while it was sleeping peacefully on a green leaf. To me a butterfly is a flying flower. I can only wonder to the amazing creations of nature!!

I feel, these selfless small moments make us conscious that it needs really very small things to be happy and fulfilled. Perhaps a butterfly needs a little sunshine and a flower. Though we try to find happiness with a man made world, but the real treasure and wisdom lies within nature. We need to just look at them and realize.
Thanks to this lovely colorful butterfly…It made my day!
A wonderful example of camouflage
Nature gives everyone a weapon to defend itself. While the two butterflies were happily feasting on some small pieces of apple, I captured them. The closed wings of the butterflies are designed in such a way that if a bird watches it from a distance it may assume it to be another bird because of its false eye like design.
Indeed a wonderful example of camouflage!!

Butterfly larvae
These are the butterfly larvae or caterpillars. I remember the well known proverb,
Just when the caterpillar thought that the world was over, it became a butterfly.
Though the average life span of a butterfly is only a month or even shorter for smaller butterflies, I wonder how beautifully they enjoy their short life while spreading charm to their surroundings!! Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small and big, cute, colorful and free butterflies could lead one to the shiny side of life.

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.

A vibrant scene!
When I watched the butterflies flying from one place to another it seemed as if they were celebrating each and every moment of their life and their wings were shining brightly in the sun. Those fluttering butterflies were beyond my grasp, but the moment I was unmindful, it kissed me.
