Be it the internet, our cell phones, TV, digital cameras or MRI body scanners and many such revolutionary things, we all owe it to Albert Einstein – the most influential scientist of the 20th century. He spent a substantial amount of his life in Switzerland. He studied, worked and met his first wife while living in Switzerland.
When Messi and Neymar’s magic has started spreading its charm on football fans for their performances in World Cup 2014, let’s look inside the club FC Barcelona – the club where both Messi and Neymar play! (For those of you who prefer soccer, FC stands for Football club!)
Almost the whole world is enjoying a football bash now with the beginning of the 20th FIFA (The Federation Internationale de Football Association) World Cup! I am not a very big fan of football, but I enjoy the celebratory mood of the people from all over the world.
She has that kind of beauty which may give peace to our eyes, but not to our mind, I thought, while seeing Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the most famous painting in the world in the Louvre museum in Paris. Visiting a new city is always thrilling since we know we will find out busy roads, lots of traffic, people and big buildings, yet we always end up finding something new, something special which gives uniqueness to a particular city. On one hand, the wonderful nature in Norway, Switzerland , France and Denmark etc instills me with peace, inspiring places like Nobel Museum in Stockholm , CERN Switzerland , The Neils Bohr Institute in Copenhagen and The Freud Museum in Vienna etc inspires me and on the other hand some places take away words from my pen, takes away thoughts from my mind and senses from within.
From the moment I heard that the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2013 has been awarded to Francois Englert and Peter W. Higgs for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC). I thought of sharing my experience of visiting CERN in Geneva, Switzerland with my readers.
